While Blueshift does automatic deterministic profile merging based on emails & customer ids, you can now trigger profile merges programmatically using the merge API. You may choose to do this in case you need to de-duplicate user profiles when the same user has multiple logins (customer id) in your database and you wish to clean up those profiles to unify them. You can also use this capability to overwrite a customer__id.
